1. Introduction
Welcome to Ridrs ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data in an open and transparent manner. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our mobile application (the "App") and its related services (the "Services").
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you.
A. Information You Provide to Us
- Account Information: When you create a Ridrs account, we collect your email address, display name, and authentication credentials.
- Profile Information: You may choose to provide additional information for your public profile, including a bio, social media handles (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok), and a profile avatar.
- Motorcycle Information: You can add details about your motorcycles, including make, model, year, and photos.
- Riding Preferences: We collect information about your preferred riding pace (e.g., relaxed, spirited) and ride types (e.g., cruise, touring) to help connect you with other riders.
- Communications: If you contact us directly for support or feedback, we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide.
B. Information We Collect Automatically When You Use Our Services
- Geolocation Data: We collect precise geolocation data from your mobile device when you use location-based features of the App, such as creating or navigating a route, or sharing your location during a group ride. You can disable location services through your device settings, but this will limit the functionality of the App.
- User-Generated Content: We collect the information you generate within the App, including:
- Routes: Saved routes, including waypoints, descriptions, and any associated data.
- Events: Details of events you create or participate in, including title, description, time, and location.
- Plans: Invitations and communications with other users for planning rides or meetups.
- Usage and Analytics Data: We collect information about your interactions with the App, such as which features you use, the content you view, and the frequency and duration of your activities. This is limited to a maximum of 1000 of your most recent analytics events.
- Device Information: We may collect information about your mobile device, including the device model, operating system version, and push notification tokens to send you relevant notifications.
C. Information from Third Parties
We do not currently collect personal information from third parties.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data for various purposes:
- To Provide and Maintain Our Service: To create and manage your account, operate the App, and deliver the core functionalities like route creation, navigation, and social interaction.
- To Improve and Personalize Our Service: To understand how users interact with the App, to personalize your experience, and to develop new features and functionality.
- To Communicate With You: To send you service-related notifications, updates, security alerts, and support messages. This includes push notifications for event invites, ride status updates, and connection requests.
- For Safety and Security: To verify accounts and activity, detect and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized activity, and enforce our terms and policies.
- To Fulfill Legal Obligations: To comply with applicable laws, legal processes, and governmental requests, including data export ("Right to Know") and deletion ("Right to be Forgotten") requests under GDPR and CCPA.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information in the following situations:
- With Other Ridrs Users: Your profile information (avatar, display name, bio, motorcycles, riding preferences) and user-generated content (public routes and events) may be visible to other users of the App. When you participate in a group ride, your real-time location may be shared with other participants in that ride.
- With Service Providers: We do not currently share data with third-party service providers. Should this change, this policy will be updated to reflect the categories of service providers and the purpose of sharing.
- For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security, or technical issues; or to protect our or our users' rights or property.
5. Your Data Rights and Choices
You have certain rights regarding the personal information we hold about you.
- Access and Portability ("Right to Know"): You can request a copy of your personal data at any time. From the App's Privacy Settings, you can use the "Download My Data" feature to receive a comprehensive JSON export of your information.
- Correction: You can edit your profile information at any time through the App's profile settings.
- Deletion ("Right to be Forgotten"): You can request the permanent deletion of your account and all associated data. This can be initiated from the Privacy Settings screen in the App. This action is irreversible and will remove all your profile information, routes, events, connections, and other data from our systems.
- Control Over Push Notifications: You can manage your push notification preferences from the App's notification settings.
- Control Over Geolocation: You can control the App's access to your device's location services through your mobile device's settings.
6. Data Security
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. All data is transmitted securely using HTTPS, and we use Firebase's built-in security features to protect data at rest. For data exports, we use secure, time-limited signed URLs to protect your data in transit.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you choose to delete your account, all your personal data will be permanently deleted from our production systems. Data included in exports is made available for 30 days via a secure download link, after which the exported file is deleted from our systems.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
